General Information

Child Protection Policy

If you are an under-18 entrant, please draw the attention of your parent(s)/guardian to this Policy, which can be seen by clicking here. Teachers who themselves enter their pupils should also take steps to ensure that the children's guardian(s) are aware of the Policy.

Facilities

We try hard to make your time at the Festival a pleasant one, even though taking part can be a bit nerve-racking ! Do bring along your friends and family to support you. They'll enjoy watching the other competitors too. In fairness to the people taking part we ask that the rooms are quiet during performances, but you will still have time to have a chat, buy a drink or a memento of the occasion.

Stewarding

Most of the stewarding is done by committee members, but if you'd like to help, we'd love to hear from you. It is not difficult and often a lot of fun - writing certificates, selling tickets, or doing odd jobs. If you can help, just tick the box on the application form, or call Jill Peck on 01473-625077.

Extra syllabuses

You can obtain extra syllabuses (or application forms) info@suffolk-festival.org.uk We will send the new one to you each year.

Other Festivals

There are around 300 comparable festivals all over Britain affiliated to the same Federation, including Cambridge, Chelmsford, Colchester, Cromer, Norwich etc. For more details, contact the Federation on 01625 428297.

Questions we often get asked

Does my age affect what class I can compete in?

Yes. Some classes are designed especially for younger people, or students. Some classes are designed for older people. We hope the syllabus makes it clear, but if you're not sure, contact one of the Committee.

Will I get a certificate if I compete ?

Certificates are given to all participants, and if you achieve a grade (such as Distinction), and/or are placed First, Second or Third the certificate will show this. In some junior classes, there will also be a medal awarded to the winner.
